We will be questioned ... how did you receive the foreigner? Did you welcome them and welcome him or reject?
America is best defended, essentially, by reference to the best within national tradition, exactly as the Christian faith is best defended through connection to what makes it special and wonderful, which is the example of Jesus. In neither case does it suggest feigning the worst about the nation and Christian faith did not happen; it means both humility and faith, a mixture that serious US believers should be comfortable with.
