Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
